The listed Spirella Building, originally built as a corset factory in 1912, is now a multi-tenanted business complex covering over
10,000 square metres. This complex building was the most ambitious commercial job that the team have tackled since EPCs for
commercial buildings came into force in October this year.
The huge size of the building and the different activity zones within it meant the full inspection took four commercial energy
assessors three days to complete. Each separate activity zone had to be evaluated individually in order to take into account
different uses.
"The Spirella Building is one of the larger commercial EPCs to be completed in the UK and it was fantastic to have the
opportunity to work on such a large and interesting heritage building. The team were able to complete the inspection expertly
and efficiently, taking into consideration its many different areas and functions."
